Dave Johnson of Plague Industries debuts at WORCS

Dave Johnson Makes WORCS Pro Debut at Canyon MX

Bullhead City, AZ (2/28/2018) – Plague Industries’ Dave Johnson made his WORCS SXS Pro debut at Canyon MX in Peoria, AZ. Driving a Polaris RZR, Johnson stepped up the Pro Stock class this year after finishing third in points in 1000 Stock in 2017.

After missing the first round for medical reasons, Dave

wanted to take a conservative approach to his first race. After hanging back at the start, Dave quickly began moving through the field. Though he cut down a tire in the final laps, he finished 12th, an amazing achievement in the competitive class.

“Finishing among the top 12 with these guys is a great achievement for me,” said Johnson. “I wanted to let everyone else get out ahead of me to see what everyone was going to do. I started picking them off and worked my way up the ladder. This was my first time racing here in a SXS and I absolutely loved it. The infield was really conducive to the SXS.”

Johnson is running the same RZR in which he competed last season, though it has been completely reworked. It features a weld-in cage and many other modifications to make it competitive in what is WORCS’ tightest class competition-wise.

“I’m honored to be competing in the Pro Stock class this year and compete at this level,” said Johnson. “I’m still running the same car, but we lightened the car up a bunch and made a bunch of modifications.”

Elka Shocks and Maxxis Tires round out his competitive ride. Doug Roll worked with Johnson in the offseason and at the track to ensure his suspension was dialed in for the rough course.

“Doug worked with us in the off-season,” said Johnson. “In this last race, it was the first time I got to run the Maxxis Liberty tires. It’s more a desert tire and that was a brutal race. I cut down a tire in the last laps and had to finish with a flat, but the tire held together to the end. That’s an amazing tire. I’m planning to run Tire Blocks

going forward because the conditions are so brutal.”

Johnson will be back in action when the WORCS Series heads to Lake Havasu City AZ for the next race. The event is scheduled for March 16-18.
